Mr. Harvey:

asked the President of the Board of Education whether he can state the number of empty class-rooms in the elementary schools of the county of London?

Mr. Stanley:

I regret that I have no information which would enable me to give a precise answer to the hon. Member's question. The fall in the child population has set free a large amount of school accommodation in London, and advantage is being taken of this to improve teaching conditions by enlarging rooms, revising standards of accommodation and other similar measures.
