Oral Answers to Questions — Trade and Commerce. – in the House of Commons at on 27 April 1936.
asked the Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department whether, according to his information, the four new destroyers for which Greece has invited tenders are to be built in this country; and whether there has been any difficulty over terms of payment?
So far as I am aware, no order has yet been placed for these destroyers, but I understand that the Greek Government is anxious to place it in this country. The question of the terms of payment is still under discussion.
May I ask what steps my hon. and gallant Friend's Department have taken to facilitate this payment, and whether it is possible to communicate to the House the policy of his Department in connection with such matters?
No, Sir. The question is under discussion. I cannot say any more than that.
