The latest figures available are those provided by the non-native census taken in April, 1931. There were at that date in the Territory 8,228 Europeans, 23,422 Indians, 1,722 Goans, 7,059 Arabs, 15 Ceylonese, and 574 "others." Of the Indians, 23,280 were British subjects.
