– in the House of Commons at on 20 March 1935.
Captain Arthur Marsden
, Battersea North
asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he has any information to show whether the Chinese Government contemplate extending railway communications to Sinkiang in order to counterbalance the economic and political effects of the-Turkestan-Siberian Railway?
Mr Anthony Eden
, Warwick and Leamington
I have no information leading me to suppose that railway extensions to Sinkiang are under contemplation.
Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
