Oral Answers to Questions — China. – in the House of Commons at on 11 March 1935.
Sir Patrick Hannon
, Birmingham Moseley
asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he can make a statement relating to the murder of Mr. and Mrs. Frencham, missionaries, British subjects, at Ningkiang, Northern China?
Mr Anthony Eden
, Warwick and Leamington
I have seen Press reports stating that Mr. and Mrs. Frencham have been killed. My right hon. Friend has no definite confirmation of these reports and inquiries are being made.
Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
