I have no information beyond what is contained in replies given to questions in the Indian Legislative Assembly on the 14th August and the Punjab Legislative Council on the 24th and 29th October and the 12th November. I am sending the hon. Member a copy of the relevant extracts from the official reports containing these replies.
Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
