asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, in view of the number of convictions against taximeter-cab drivers in London during the last three years, whether he will consider the question of the system of licensing now in operation with a view to adjusting the personnel in this industry without inconveniencing the public and yet acting in equity to the taximeter-cab drivers as a body?
Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
