asked the Postmaster-General whether he can now make a statement as to the tests recently carried out at Nottingham with stopper coils to prevent interference with broadcasting programmes by the trolly omnibuses of the Nottingham transport department?

I have received a report on the tests recently carried out at Nottingham with the use of suppressor coils on trolly omnibuses. The report is of a detailed character, but the general conclusion reached is that the use of the coils results in, a material reduction of interference with wireless reception. The tests were carried out in co-operation with the Nottingham Corporation Transport Department; and a copy of the report 'will be sent to that department.

Is it correct that these tests were arranged some months ago, and what is the cause of this regrettable delay?

The matter was discussed some time ago, and I think it has taken some time to carry out the tests, but I will look into the matter further.

Will the right hon. Gentleman co-operate with the Ministry of Transport in enforcing these coils on trolly omnibuses?

I have no power to enforce them.
