asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware of the serious injury to the pottery trade caused by the new Dutch quota, limiting imports from this country to 25 per cent. by weight of that sent in 1929 or 1930; whether he is aware that this means throwing 400 people out of work for the whole year; and what steps is he taking to improve trading between these two mutually dependent peoples?
Mr John Colville
, Midlothian and Peeblesshire Northern
I am informed that the United Kingdom quota is equivalent to approximately 62½ per cent. by weight (and not 25 per cent. as stated) of the average imports from the United Kingdom into the Netherlands in the years 1929 and 1930. The representations which my right hon. Friend has already made are receiving careful consideration.

Do We understand that it is not 25 per cent., but we are really to be allowed to export 62 per cent.?
Mr John Colville

That is my information.
