asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air what control is exercised by the Air Ministry over the choice and lay-out of sites in Great Britain to be used as aerodromes for the transport of passengers and mails?

The air navigation regulations provide that a place in Great Britain and Northern Ireland may not be used as a regular place of landing and departure by aircraft carrying passengers for hire or reward unless it is licensed for the purpose by the Secretary of State and the conditions of the licence are complied with. The physical and other requirements for sites intended to be used as land aerodromes have recently been set out by the Directorate of Civil Aviation in a pamphlet, of which I sending the hon. Member a copy.
