asked the Secretary of State for India whether it is contemplated to hold in India any celebrations of the Royal Jubilee next year?

I am sure that India will wish to join in the celebration of this auspicious occasion, and that arrangements will be made in conformity with those for the rest of the Empire. But I am not at present in a position to say more.
Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
