I have been asked to reply. My right hon. Friend has recently received proposals for a scheme of this nature from the Governor of Trinidad, and will give them his careful consideration as soon as he has received the observations of the Governors of the Gold Coast and Nigeria, to whom particulars of the scheme have been communicated by the Governor of Trinidad.

Is it the case that plant disease is likely to restrict the production of cocoa very greatly?

I have not the slightest idea.
