asked the Postmaster-General whether he will consider a reduction in the cost of wireless licences to listeners, or, alternatively, a reduction of fees paid therefrom to the British Broadcasting Corporation?

The amount of the wireless licence fee was considered by the Broadcasting Committees of 1923 and 1925; and both committees recommended that the fee be maintained at 10s. a year, and it would not appear that a reduction is justified. The payments made by the Post Office to the British Broadcasting Corporation are covered by agreements which are due to remain in force until the 31st December, 1936.

Will the right hon. Gentleman make any representations to the British Broadcasting Corporation to bring an end to the spending of public money to make private inquiries into the lives of listeners?

That is another matter altogether.
