asked the President of the Board of Trade what progress has been made with the setting up of the organisation to promote the sale of British goods to which the late President referred on 7th October last in his reply to the hon. Member for Howdenshire (Major Carver)?

A meeting was held on the 9th October at which a number of representative business men were present, and I understand that a subcommittee was formed to consider how the matter might best be pursued. The Empire Marketing Board, as my hon. and gallant Friend will have observed, have launched a vigorous campaign, in which they have had the invaluable assistance of His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales.

Has it never dawned on the right hon. Gentleman that the best way to encourage the buying of British goods is to give the British the power to buy British goods? They have not the money to buy.
