Mr Wilfred Wellock
, Stourbridge
asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies the result of his inquiries as to whether a number of schools erected and supported by Africans in the Kyambu district of Kenya have been closed down in recent years?
Sir Robert Hamilton
, Orkney and Shetland
There has not yet been time for the necessary local inquiries to be made and for the results to be reported by the Governor of Kenya, but I hope to receive a communication from him in due course.
Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
