asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies whether any steps are being taken in British Colonies and Dependencies to carry out the recommendations of the report of the commission of inquiry into the control of opium consumption in the Far East?

The recommendations have been carefully considered by the Governments concerned, but it is considered advisable to defer any changes in the existing system of control until the commission's recommendations have been fully discussed at the International Conference which is to be held at Bangkok in November.
