Oral Answers to Questions — Government Departments. – in the House of Commons at on 17 December 1929.
asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will give consideration to the inclusion of representatives of the producers of home-grown food upon the Consumers' Council now in process of preparation?
As I have already stated, the composition of the Consumers' Council will receive most careful consideration. Meantime I can add nothing to my statement of 5th November.
Is my right hon. Friend aware that both the working farmer and the farm worker are practically engaged in a sweated industry, and that they, therefore, need representation on this Consumers' Council?
I do not for a moment, dispute the very difficult position of agriculture, but it is much too early to make a further statement on the question. There have reached me innumerable representations, all of which will be considered.
