asked the Lord Privy; Seal (1) whether, in view of the national importance of the Channel Tunnel question and the need for providing as much work as possible during the winter months and stimulating trade, he will cause additional facilities and technical assistance to be placed at the disposal of the Channel Tunnel Committee with a view to expediting their Report;
(2) when the Report of the Channel Tunnel Committee may be expected; and whether, if this cannot be ready before Parliament reassembles after the recess, he will ask for an interim report to be presented by that time?
Mr. THOMAS:
The Channel Tunnel Committee hope to submit their Report by the time that Parliament reassembles after the Recess. There will be no delay on the part of the Government in considering the Report. Additional facilities and technical assistance have already been placed at the disposal of the Committee.
