asked the Minister of Pensions whether he has received any representations from staff associations in regard to the future of the permanent and temporary salaried officers employed in his Department; whether any decision has yet been taken on this subject; and whether it is his intention to provide all recognised staff associations with the opportunity of fully considering any proposals that may emerge before such proposals become in any way binding or operative?

The only representations that have reached my right hon. Friend in regard to the future of the permanent and temporary salaried officers employed in his Department are protests against proposals which he has not yet received. I can, however, assure the hon. Member that, if be should receive any proposals, he will give them his most careful consideration.

Does that mean that any association of those employed in the Department will be allowed to consider any proposals before they become operative?

I am afraid I cannot answer that question. If my right hon. and gallant Friend receives any proposals he will consider them most carefully.
