Complete information is not available, but statements have appeared in the Press, since the imposition or re-imposition of the relevant duties, regarding the formation of 18 artificial silk companies and three motor car and three motor tyre companies; and the establishment, or projected establishment, of 22 silk and artificial silk factories and 11 motor car and five motor tyre factories. These figures refer to new factories and do not include extensions of existing factories. I am not able to state the amount of new capital involved in the development of these industries since the imposition or re-imposition of the duties.
