asked the Minister of Labour whether his Department is furnished with information of the work available before miners are transferred to any particular area; and, if so, if he will state what work in Devonport and Plymouth was reported to him as being available for the miners transferred to these districts?

Men are not transferred from depressed areas unless there are specific vacancies or good prospects that employment will be immediately available for them in the new area. As regards Devonport and Plymouth, I understand that those transferred have found employment in such occupations as agriculture, cable laying, coach-building, general labouring, etc.
