Mr Henry Snell
, Woolwich East
asked the Under-Secretary of State for India the terms and conditions on which the Government of India propose to give a subsidy to companies promoted to develop civil aviation in India?
Viscount Turnour
, Horsham and Worthing
The Government of India have called for tenders for the operation of a subsidised air service from Karachi to Delhi, with an eventual extension to Calcutta. The terms and conditions are very detailed, and I am sending the hon. Member a copy of the memoranda issued to tenderers by the Government of India.
Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
