I have been asked to reply. The Empire Marketing Board intimated, when the original grant of £25,000 for a campaign of milk publicity was approved, that on reviewing last summer the results of the campaign and in considering the question of any further grant for its extension, they would in part be guided by the prospect of the organised producers and distributors themselves devoting to a campaign for the same purpose a sum equal to the contribution on behalf of the Board. The Board did not receive from the organisations concerned at the time when the campaign was reviewed, nor have they since received, any indication that either distributors or producers were prepared themselves to undertake a parallel campaign on national lines; and the Board do not propose, as at present advised, to recommend renewal of their campaign of last year.
