asked the Secretary of State for War whether, if the site of Chilwell is not to be used for departmental purposes, he will at once consider the desirability of allowing business people to acquire spaces for private enterprise at that centre?

It is not yet settled whether Chilwell dep6t shall be retained for departmental purposes, but every effort will be made to expedite a decision in the matter.

Can the right hon. Gentleman say if a decision will be come to within a week's time?

I am afraid I cannot say that a decision will be come to within a week's time. It is an extremely complicated matter, involving a great deal of expense and I am not yet in a position to say when a decision will be made.
