Oral Answers to Questions — Agriculture. – in the House of Commons at on 7 June 1928.
Mr Walter Forrest
, Batley and Morley
asked the President of the Board of Trade the number and names of the industries which have made unsuccessful applications for protection under the Safeguarding of Industries Act?
Mr Philip Lloyd-Greame
, Hendon
As I have frequently stated in the House, it is our settled policy not to disclose those industries in respect of which applications have been made under the Safeguarding of Industries procedure, but committees of inquiry have not been appointed. In number, however, they are 20, excluding four cases in which duties were imposed in Finance Acts. I am sending the hon. Member a list of the applications which have been referred to committees.
