I do not say in large numbers, but the hon. Member for Moseley knows, from the experience of his own city, that a great deal of the industry of this country is made up of small firms and small trades, and the fact that a trade is only a small one is no excuse for treating it badly. It seems to me that from any point of view, either from the point of view of the advantages proposed to he derived from this tax or from that of the disadvantages which I have tried to outline, there is no possible excuse for imposing it. Remembering what the hon. Member said a few minutes ago, and knowing that then he was not sneering but speaking sincerely in his desire to keep things cheap and to keep in employment British workpeople, I have every confidence in moving the Amendment.
