Oral Answers to Questions — Post Office. – in the House of Commons at on 19 July 1927.
asked the Postmaster-General what is the capital cost of the new Holborn Exchange; and how many lines it will feed when complete?
The approximate capital cost of the new Holborn Exchange which will have a total capacity of 9,400 subscribers' lines, is £374,000, including site and building.
Does the right hon. Gentleman not think that the cost per line will work out very expensive and that it will not be profitable but will cause a loss to the Post Office?
I do not think so; otherwise, we should not embark upon it.
