asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Over- seas Trade Department whether his attention has been called to a statement issued by the Russian Trade Delegation to the effect that Russia is prepared to purchase Scotch herrings; and whether his Department is in communication with the Russian Trade Delegation to ascertain the amount that Russia is prepared to take in the forthcoming season?

My attention has not been called to any such statement, nor has the Russian Trade Delegation communicated with my Department on the subject.
