Oral Answers to Questions — China. – in the House of Commons at on 6 July 1925.
Sir Patrick Hannon
, Birmingham Moseley
asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he can state the details of the Japanese cotton trade during 1924, giving the imports of yarn, Italians and satins, grey and white sheetings and shirtings, and the exports of cotton tissues, together with the countries of origin and destination?
Mr Arthur Samuel
, Farnham
I have been asked to reply. Detailed statistics of Japanese foreign trade during 1924 have not yet been published; but, according to the preliminary figures issued by the Japanese Ministry of Finance, the value of Japan's imports and exports of cotton manufactures in 1924 were as follow:
| Million Yen. | |
| Total Imports: | |
| Cotton Tissues, roughly | 12 |
| Total Exports: | |
| Cotton Tissues, roughly | 327 |
| Cotton Blankets, roughly | 4 |
Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
