asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department whether he is aware that there are several millions of people residing in Greater London who, on account of their employment six days per week, are unable to visit the British Empire Exhibition at Wembley; and will he. under these circumstances, make representation to the management committee to open this exhibition on Sunday?

I beg to refer the hon. and gallant Member to the reply given on 24th June by my hon. Friend, the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Trade, in answer to a similar question asked by the hon. Member for Gateshead (Mr. Beckett).

Is the objection of the authorities founded on financial grounds?

Mr. SAMUEL:

No. Sir. In the first place legislation would be required to change the law in regard to this matter, and I am given to understand that there is a very considerable body of opinion that is totally against it.
