asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether the Government are in close touch with the Dominions at the present time regarding the question of emigration, and what are the present arrangements; and whether he will consider putting some fresh scheme before the Dominions with regard to the matter?

I am in close touch with the Dominion Governments upon the whole question of Empire settlement and migration, and I invite my hon. Friend's attention to the statement of the schemes arranged under the Empire Settlement Act, 1922, which was circulated with the OFFICIAL REPORT of the 10th March. Since that date, an important Agreement, of which particulars have been published, has been arranged with the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia. My hon. Friend will also find further information regarding the policy of His Majesty's Government in relation to Empire migration and settlement in the Annual Report of the Oversea Settlement Committee for the year 1924. I invite his special attention to Section IX of that Report, which deals with the subject generally and explains its difficulties.
