asked the Minister of Health what is the amount of the increase in the price of building materials, particularly timber and hardware castings, since November, 1924, to date?

There has been no appreciable change in the cost of building materials since November last. Timber as used for cottage purposes has slightly decreased in price since November, 1924—by less than 1 per cent. Light castings have increased in price by various percentages, representing a total increase of approximately 24s. per non-parlour house.

Can the hon. Member say whether the Committee that was specially instructed to go into the recent increases by the National Light Castings Association has yet made its report?

The Committee, I understand, has had three meetings, and has investigated the matter on each occasion, and is now in communication with the Light Castings Association on the matter.
