also asked the Home Secretary (1) in how many cases where persons have been convicted of being drunk while in charge of a motor car during the present year the sentence included suspension of the driving licence;

(2) how many persons have been convicted of being drunk while in charge of a motor car and sentenced to imprisonment by the Courts during the present year; how many of these convictions were the subject of appeal; and in how many cases was the sentence of imprisonment quashed on appeal?
