asked the Home Secretary how many courts of summary jurisdiction have appointed probation officers, and how many have failed to make such provision?
Mr. HENDERSON:
A recent return shows that, out of 1,029 petty sessional divisions in England and Wales, about 170 have not appointed probation officers.
Does the right hon. Gentleman contemplate taking any action to bring those authorities into line with the rest?
