Oral Answers to Questions — Transport, – in the House of Commons at on 27 May 1924.
asked the Minister of Transport whether he will recommend to the railway companies the greater use by the companies of motors, both to deliver farm produce from the stations and, if telephoned up by the farmer, to collect it from the farm?
The railway companies acre under no obligation either to deliver or to collect traffic by road, and, as at present advised, I do not feel that I could usefully make any general recommendation to the companies on the lines suggested by the hon. Baronet, but I am communicating his question to them.
