asked the. Minister of Agriculture when His Majesty's Government will be in a position to announce the action which they have decided to take with regard to the recommendations of the Committee on Credit Facilities?
As I stated in reply to the hon. and gallant Member for Loughborough (Brigadier-General Spears) on the 5th instant, a Bill is being drafted on the lines of the Committee s recommendations. I must ask my hon. Friend to await the introduction of this Bill, which will be presented as soon as possible.
In view of the urgency of the farmers' needs at. economy time, and in the interests of the country, will the right hon. Gentleman consider the desirability of making use of the existing banks as a channel through which credit facilities could be granted?
That matter is being thoroughly considered by the Committee.
