asked the President of the Board of Education the number of secondary schools in England and Wales which, not having prior to the year 1918 received from the Board any maintenance grants or other grants-in-aid, have since applied for recognition as State-aided schools and of these how many have been so recognised; and whether he can state the total amount of grants paid by the Board since 1918 on account of such schools?
