The discharge of certain soldiers serving on short-service engagements has been ordered as part of the reductions to be made in the establishment of the Army. The terms of compensation to be given to these men, in addition to furlough, were published in a Royal Warrant issued as Army Order 179 on the 11th instant, details of which appeared in the Press on Saturday, the 13th instant.
