65.

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether there are any departmental classes where the classification is different for men and women; and, if so, when the Treasury intends to alter the existing classification so as to carry out Clause 2 of his Resolution of 5th August, 1921?

Mr. YOUNG:

I am not aware of any departmental classes differently graded according to the sex of the officer engaged upon the work. The second part of the question does not therefore appear to arise.

Mr. YOUNG:

Yes, it would be very interesting to hear from the hon. and gallant Member what particular cases he has in view.

Mr. YOUNG:

No, on the whole I think that suggestion is quite without foundation. Again, I am quite sure the Noble Lord would not have made it without having particular cases in view. If he has cases in view I shall be very interested to learn of them.

The Noble Lord is making a statement of fact, and not asking a question.
