Separate figures are not available for the South Division of the Borough of Poplar. The numbers of persons lodging their unemployment books at the Poplar Employment Exchange on 31st January and 28th February last were: males,8,542 and 8,412; and females, 2,350 and 2,224, respectively. The trades in which the highest figures appear were transport, shipbuilding, engineering and building, for men; and food and tobacco, the tailoring trades and laundries for women.
