Colonel BURN:

asked the President of the Board of Education what is the number of teachers under the London County Council scheme to whom, during the two years ended 31st March, 1918, extension of service was granted; and the number under the same authority to whom, during the same period, extension was refused?

My fight hon. Friend docs not understand what is intended by the reference to the London County Council scheme. The number of certificated teachers whose certificates were extended by the Board on the application of the London County Council during the two years ended the 31st March, 1918, was 109. No application by the London County Council for such extension was refused.
