asked the Minister of Labour whether a man receiving unemployment benefit and who marries while in receipt of it is entitled to the 5s. for his wife; and, if so, whether payment for any children his wife may have had before marriage to him will be made?

In accordance with the terms of the Dependants' Grants Act, a grant would be payable in respect of the wife. A grant would also be payable in respect of the children if they are the applicant's children or have been adopted by him: are wholly or mainly maintained at his cost: and are under the age of 14, or under the ago of 16 and under full-time instruction in a day school.

Are we to understand that a man who receives unemployment benefit and marries is entitled to these payments?
