Lieut.-Colonel A. MURRAY:

asked the Prime Minister whether it is the intention of His Majesty's Government to dispense with all publicity activities abroad, as proposed by the Geddes Committee; and, if so, whether the decision has been arrived at in consultation with all the competent authorities?

I am not aware that the Committee recommended that any publicity activities abroad should be dispensed with. The Committee recommended that special provision for the Foreign Office News Department abroad should cease, and that the necessary work should be performed by the regular diplomatic staff.
