asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what amount has been subscribed for national war saving certificates during the three months ending 16th October; and what amount has been repaid during the same period?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN:

During the three months ending 16th October £9,600,000 has been subscribed for national savings certificates, and £7,650,000 has been repaid exclusive of accrued interest.
