asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Agriculture if it is intended to compel farmers to grow potatoes in the coming season when they are unable to dispose of last season's crop, much of which is now being wasted?
Sir A. BOSCAWEN:
The answer is in the negative. Farmers will have complete freedom of action during the coming season as to the crops they may wish to grow on their arable land.
Can the hon. Gentleman say whether the control is still on potatoes, or whether there is a free price?
A notice was issued by the Minister of Food a few weeks ago stating that control had been taken off.
