To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what recent assessments she has made of the fairness of contracts between supermarkets and farmers; and if she will make a statement.

The Government believes it is in everyone’s interest that all operators in the supply chain should receive a fair price for their goods. That means sharing the risk across the supply chain and I am pleased that some supermarkets already do this. To help improve the resilience of the British dairy industry and provide a firmer footing for businesses to take advantage of the growing demand for British produce, the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board will be facilitating an urgent industry-led review of best practice in the dairy supply chain.
