Iraqi forces, including the Peshmerga, are key parts of the fight against Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), as is the Syrian moderate opposition. Aircraft from Bahrain, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have been involved in airstrikes against the terrorist group in Syria. Other states in the region are also providing humanitarian, logistical and other support to international efforts to degrade and ultimately defeat ISIL.
