Our rail investment strategy will see investments of £16 billion by Government which forms part of Network Rail's £38 billion investment in improvements to the rail network by 2019. This includes major capacity increases into and between our major cities and a rolling programme of electrification. Demand for rail continues to grow and our plans for HS2 provide a step-change in the capacity and speed of rail services in the next decade.
