Jim Cunningham (Coventry South, Labour)
To ask the Secretary of State for Health pursuant to the answer of 26 June 2012, Official Report, column 224W, on cancer, what discussions he has had with (a) the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence and (b) the NHS Commissioning Board on the omission of a potential indicator on patient experience of cancer patients from the consultation of the 2014/15 Clinical Commissioning Group Outcomes Indicator Set.

Anna Soubry (Broxtowe, Conservative)
The Clinical Commissioning Group Outcomes Indicator Set is a matter for the NHS Commissioning Board.
The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) is the independent body responsible for advising the NHS Commissioning Board, on potential indicators.
NICE make recommendations based on the best evidence available. We understand that an indicator on patient experience of cancer services is being considered, and then will be the subject of consultation by NICE.
