To ask Her Majesty's Government, further to the Written Answer by Baroness Verma on 5 February (WA 31-2) stating that the statistical model used for global temperatures was a linear trend with first-order autoregressive noise, what is their assessment of the likelihood of that model relative to a driftless third-order autoregressive integrated model.

I refer the noble Lord to the Written Answers I gave on 5 February (Official Report, col. WA31-2) and 14 January 2013 (Hansard, col. WA 110) on climate change and the subject of statistical models.

My officials would be willing to arrange a meeting with you to discuss statistical models for assessing observed global temperature time series.
